The parent unit's 2.5 in. color screen has a quick view feature and voice activation, and allows you to check on your baby without needing to enter baby's room. Parents can be confident their baby is secure and comfortable since the baby's room temperature can be displayed as well as the date and time. You're able to see your baby no matter where you are in your home, and if you do venture too far, the unit will let you know with the out of range indicator. The parent unit provides even more portability with the belt clip so you can have your hands free to do the things that need doing while knowing baby is safe. If the batteries do wear out, they are rechargeable, or you can plug the unit into a wall socket using the a/c adaptor. The sound lights allow you to "see" the sounds your baby makes.
